This is my town where I live, shop and work. Elk Grove officially became a City the year that I moved from the Bay Area in 2000. Very little housing was in Elk Grove as compared with today…a real boom took place over the past six years. In fact, I believe that I officially heard that Elk Grove was the fastest growing City in the United States which certainly wouldn’t surprise any of the residents here.
The old timers hated to see us all come. They had a peaceful life with one stop sign in the town with wide open spaces. But, we are here and the hustle and bustle is booming!
If you shut your eyes for very long or don’t go a certain direction for a few weeks, you’re liable to not recognize a particular corner. The school district in Elk Grove is Elk Grove Unified School District which opens a minimum of 3 new schools a year to keep up with the demand. Speaking of demand, teachers seek Elk Grove Unified School District to teach so the area is one that is quite promising.
Elk Grove is tremendously large, large enough to handle three different zip codes and still growing! Old Town pictured to the left has been going through a renovation and will be a place of pride to sip that cup of coffee or visit the boutiques and antique stores.
The Regional Park is quite lovely and holds the annual Strauss Festival along with many other civic festivities.
Located just 10 minutes from Downtown and within an hour from the Bay, Elk Grove is a great place to live.
