Sacramento saw spotlights beaming on the dilapidated Railyard off highway 5 last night near Downtown Sacramento. There is a reason for those bright lights…draw attention!
Why is the developer, Thomas Enterprises drawing attention to this eye-sore?
Have Sacramentans take notice of this area and make it a vital community where 240 acres can be transformed into over 10,000 residences, entertainment and businesses, a village of sorts.
Sacramento City Council will be voting whether this land will be developed so except the lights to continue illuminating through November 20th when the City Council will vote on this legacy project.
There is no other area that Suheil Totah of Thomas Enterprises , the Developer can think of that has available prime land in its Downtown area, such as we have in Sacramento.
For those wondering if the arena has a chance of being built here, there is plenty of land that could make that a viable proposition anytime down the line.
The land is one-of-a-kind with quite a history (check out the old time photos) of the old Southern Pacific and Transcontinental Railroad. This was the largest railroad facility west of the Mississippi and employed 1/3 of the workers in Sacramento, at one time. There are buildings on the site dating back to 1868.
If developed, the Sacramento Downtown Railyards will be a master-planned, mixed-use area that is pedestrian friendly featuring light rail and bus connections in the Capitol Corridor. Check out the Railyard renderings below by Thomas Enterprises for a look at the railyards now and possibly in the future.
Here is a look at what we might expect if the Sacramento City Council approves of the Redevelopment of the Downtown Railyard in November.
