Homeowners, has your home gone down in value?
Are prices going down in your neighborhood?
With California 7th in the Nation with Foreclosures, has this affected the price of your home?
I think so! And yet, I would be willing to bet you are still paying the same property tax on your home that your were paying, lets say last year, the year before and so on. Your property tax is based on the amount that you purchased your home for and that it appraised for.
So, if home prices are down across the board, which they are than doesnt it make sense that you are over paying the property taxes on your house?
Contact the County Tax Assessors office where you live and file for a reduction in your property taxes. You might as well save some money!
Sacramento County Assessors Office website lists the process involved for requesting lowering property taxes, please read the dates for assessment and the procedure.

There is a saying “what goes up must come down” but I don’t think it ever applies to taxes!
Joanne, perhaps not in Colorado but it does in California.
